It will be, without much of a doubt, a series to remember. It would be yet another fancy occasion for India’s newly appointed Test captain Shubman Gill to test not just himself, but the national team he is the rising captain of. After all, it’s a collection of ceaselessly talented and redoubtably committed cricketers whose credentials marry their talents and whose personalities are a reflection of the good that only Test cricket can offer. The South Africa tour of India will also feature, among other ‘prominent’ contests, Test matches; and these will be two. Even then, the series promises fighting contests and greatly anticipated white ball games, which include 5 T20 internationals. But having said that, as they say- Test Cricket is best cricket and the soon-to-begin contests actually serve Team India a fine opportunity to correct some of its rather lame or ordinary run of form against the Proteas. So how is that?
For starters, there shall be a game at the cultural epicentre of India, i.e., the famed, the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata and once the first Test is complete, the action shall shift to Guwahati. The big news, at this the team’s usually affable and always spunky Rishabh Pant is back in the team and that too, as the Indian side’s vice captain.
Now that being said, the excitement is going to only heighten now given that the same team shall feature two of the most amazing and exquisite strokemakers- in the form of current captain, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant.
That being said, who are all going to be a part of the Test series featuring South Africa, Team India’s next big red ball assignment? We have got it covered for you:
