Max Verstappen started out this year losing his lead of the championship of more than a 1000 days to Lando Norris, at the season opener, the Australian GP. But despite not having the best and fastest car this season, Max really out showed everyone on pure skill and talent. So here are the Top 5 moments of Max Verstappen in 2025.
Max Verstappen in 2025 collected a dominant win in Japan
Max Verstappen in the first two races of the season suffered through a badly designed RB21, which caused him to finish 2nd and then 4th . But Japan, at the Suzuka Circuit, it was a completely different story. The Suzuka track favours skilled drivers and Mx Verstappen is nothing if not skilled. He drove beautifully , got Pole Position and as soon as the race started Max was off the start line like he had rockets attached to his car instead of a V6 hybrid. From there on, Max lead the race and won it. This made it extremely special as it would be the last race for Red Bull and Honda’s partnership.
Overtake of the year by Max Verstappen in 2025
As the season ran its course and we arrived at Imola for the last race at the Emilia-Romagna Circuit, unless F1 decides to bring it back, Max Verstappen was falling behind the McLaren boys. During qualifying Max only managed a P2, starting behind Oscar Piastri. It seemed like all hope was lost and Max would lose out on points again. But as soon as the race began, Max was almost alongside Piastri on the outside and George Russell was closing in on the inside of the first chicane. As Oscar defended from Russell turning in, Max took the very small window of opportunity and swung around the outside barely keeping the car within track limits and overtook Oscar. This overtake was crucial as it allowed
Max to win the race and gain the Overtake of the Year award!
The most epic win of Max Verstappen in 2025: The Win at the ‘Temple of Speed’
Max Verstappen broke the record for the fastest lap at the Temple of Speed or the Monza circuit. This record was previously held by Michael Schumacher. Max really was the Flying Dutch at the Italian GP. His final lap around the Monza track earned him Pole Position. But despite getting the Pole Position, as the race started Max was overtaken by Lando Norris, which Max did not allow and overtook him again but not within the rules of the sport so he had to give Lando the postion back. Again it seemed like all hopes lost but Max recovered well, gained lead of the race again and won the race. It was a spectacular sensation to hear the Tifosi chant Tu Tu Tu Ru Max Verstappen in 2025 as he swung the victory trophy above his head!
Finishing on the podium in Brazil

source: F1 Chronicle.com
Max Verstappen in 2025 had the worst qualifying session of all at the Interlagos Circuit. He couldn’t even manage to make it to Q2. Max Verstappen could only manage a measly 16 th place in qualifying. Red Bull decided to turn that loss into a win. They gave Max a new engine! Although this meant that Max would start in the pitlane, he would have a fighting chance due to the fresh power unit in the back of the car. And that it did.
Max roared from the pitlane as the race began. He climbed up the ranks like he was a cheetah chasing down a gazelle(Lando Norris).
And Max almost caught him. After the Lap 9, Max was in 13 th , by Lap 56, Max was in 4th. George Russell had overheating brakes so he had to lift and coast, Max seized the opportunity gained 3 rd place but couldn’t manage to best Kimi Antonelli. It’s the second time in Brazil when Max rose 17 places during a Formula 1 Grand Prix race.

Winning the last three races of the season
From not being able to compete against the McLaren cars, Max Verstappen went to dominating the F1 grid again in 2025. Since the Italian GP, the RB21 was performing much better, so Max obviously did what he does so beautifully, he extracted whatever pace the car could give him and he used to win not one, but all three of the last triple header of the year – Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
His win in Las Vegas brought him oh so close to the championship leader Lando Norris. Then he won again in Qatar, only the race. If Max had won the Sprint Race, then the championship winner would have been a completely different story though. Then came the penultimate race, the Abu Dhabi GP. Only 12 points separated Max Verstappen from Lando Norris. And Max did everything in his power to win. He achieved Pole Position, and won the race, but sadly for him and his fans, Lando finished 3rd , and thus won the championship.
Fair play to the English world champion; the sport is richer with England’s prowess at the top flight of Motorsport. But again, didn’t the Dutch driver come desperately close to grabbing what could have been a fifth driver’s title?
Now having said all of this, it ought to be noted that Max Verstappen in 2025 really extracted whatever pace was available to him in the RB21. Perhaps few would contest this view.
In the end, the Dutchman who’s often made news in the past about dangerous driving, which later made way for exceptional racing skills did do something incredible. And it’s that he ‘ALMOST’ brought the McLaren team to their knees- did he not?
Max Verstappen in 2025, they’ll remember for times to come, all but won the championship! And for that and more, he deserves the respect from all quarters were F1 racing is actually respected over the fanboy culture where warriors exist on keyboards, not for real. And definitely not of the kinds that can drive the wheels of a car, not always the fastest, but one whose base is Milton Keynes.
