We are amid interesting times indeed. Because if it does, then it leaves hapless a famed cricket league for which countless cricket fans have waited since the completion of the last IPL season.
However, to feel optimism and take a stock of the situation, the BCCI secretary has stepped in to dispel rumours and throw caution to the winds.
Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah has said the ongoing conflict in West Asia will not affect the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
There have been concerns that the war could cause travel problems for international players and team staff coming to India for the tournament. However, the BCCI is confident that the league will go ahead as planned.
Speaking about the situation, Shah said the board is keeping an eye on developments but does not expect the conflict to disrupt the competition.
The IPL is one of the biggest cricket leagues in the world and features players from many countries. Teams are already preparing for the new season, which is expected to begin later this month.
The BCCI has already released part of the schedule for the tournament, while the rest of the matches will be announced later.
Despite the global tensions, the cricket board believes the IPL will run smoothly and fans can look forward to another exciting season.
