New Zealand have shared details about the availability of a number of players for the remaining three T20Is from their ongoing series against India.
The changes have been introduced while keeping in mind the workload management of players with a five-match ODI series to follow.
Pacer Lockie Ferguson will miss the third T20I as he departs for Auckland. Ferguson will re-join the squad for the final two T20Is.
To add to the home side’s pace resources, Matt Fisher will travel with the squad to Wellington as cover for the third T20I only, after which he will return to the New Zealand A squad.
Meanwhile, Matt Henry will remain in Christchurch to assemble with the ODI squad on November 2 in Auckland.
Kyle Jamieson will feature in the third T20I on Tuesday, October 27, and will remain available for Canterbury’s second round of Ford Trophy fixture on October 31, before also rejoining the Black Caps for the ODI series.
Blair Tickner will join the T20I squad for the final three T20Is, while Josh Clarkson will be available for selection in the final two T20Is.
Black Caps head coach Rob Walter weighed in on the movements within the squad.
“It’s been a competitive start to the T20 series with two close games and plenty more cricket to come,” he was quoted by New Zealand Cricket.
“We’re very fortunate with the depth in the squad to be able to call upon different players to help manage our pacers workloads, and to try and ensure they’re best placed to perform for the team for all the cricket coming up.”
Trailing 2-0 in the current T20I series, New Zealand will eye to avoid a series defeat as they play in a must-win third T20I on Tuesday, October 27.
