Harry Kane becomes fastest player to hit 100 Bundesliga goals, breaks 49-year-old record

Harry Kane has added another remarkable milestone to his record-filled Bayern Munich resume. The England captain has become the fastest player in Bundesliga history to reach 100 goals, during Bayern’s lopsided 7-0 win over Union Berlin on Friday. He reached the milestone in just 98 Bundesliga appearances to reach the century mark. With this, he moved past the longstanding record of former Cologne striker Dieter Muller since 1977, who achieved the feat in 1977 in 129 games. Kane has now recorded the milestone in 31 games less than Muller.

Kane achieved the feat in the 39th minute at the Allianz Arena, when Michael Olise was brought down inside the penalty area, giving Bayern a spot-kick. Kane stepped up and calmly converted. But, this wasn’t it, earlier in the second half, Olise turned provider, and delivered a precise cross that Kane headed home for his second goal of the night and 101st Bundesliga strike. “Very proud, to be honest, to reach 100 goals in the Bundesliga,” Kane said about the 100th goal. “Obviously, I’ve done it in the Premier League, so now to have it in a different league is something I’m really proud of. All I can say is a big thanks to the team.”

Another Record for Harry Kane

Ever since his arrival from Tottenham in 2023, Kane has had extraordinary numbers. According to the Bundesliga, he has scored at a rate of roughly one goal every 78.5 minutes, in the contest, breaking records of several strikers including Robert Lewandowski and Gerd Muller. He was also the fastest player to reach 100 combined goals and assists in Bundesliga history, needing only 78 appearances to reach the mark.

Coming back to the game, the 7-0 win provided an ideal backdrop to the record. Jamal Musiala opened the scoring in the 18th minute before Harry Kane came up with two including a penalty in the 39th and later in the 54th minute. Michael Olise came up with a hattrick in the 43rd, 73rd, and the 76th minute. Ismael Saibari found the net in the 70th minute.
