Saif Ali Khan showcases cricket skills in London as viral video wins fans’ praise

Saif Ali Khan is winning attention online after a video of him playing cricket in London went viral. The actor was seen wearing traditional cricket whites while bowling on a cricket field. He confidently completed his run-up before delivering the ball. The actor also appeared to stop the batter from taking a quick run. The 55-year-old looked comfortable on the field and appeared to be enjoying the game. The clip has prompted fans to praise his cricketing skills. Several users also highlighted his strong connection with the sport through the Pataudi family.

Cricket has always been an important part of Saif’s family history. His father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was a former India captain and one of the country’s celebrated cricketers. His grandfather, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, also played Test cricket for England and captained India in 1946. Khan has previously spoken about this legacy while accompanying his son Taimur during cricket training in London. “Counties are like clubs, such as Sussex and Worcestershire. Your great-grandfather played for Worcestershire, and your grandfather captained Sussex,” he told Taimur.  Earlier this year, the Bollywood actor also participated in a Go Dharmic charity cricket event in London. He played alongside his sons Taimur and Jeh and scored 50 runs during the match.

“Tim has no interest in drama or acting”: Kareena Kapoor reveals Taimur’s passion for sports and cricket

Taimur Ali Khan has been learning cricket in London, continuing his family’s long association with the sport. He has trained at the indoor nets at Lord’s Cricket Ground with the ICM Cricket Academy. Former England international Usman Afzaal has reportedly been involved in his coaching sessions. Taimur has also been seen batting at a London cricket club. Saif Ali Khan has accompanied him during some of these sessions and spoken to him about the Pataudi family’s cricketing history. In one video, the bollywood actor  explained the importance of county cricket to his son. He told Taimur, “Counties are like clubs. Like Sussex, Worcestershire. Your great grandfather played for Worcestershire. Your grandfather captained Sussex.”

Interestingly, Kareena Kapoor had earlier revealed that Taimur was not interested in following his parents into acting. Speaking on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, she said, “Tim has no interest in drama or acting.” She also recalled asking him about joining school drama activities. “He’d say, ‘No, I don’t enjoy it.’ So I didn’t push it,” Kareena said. However, she revealed that his interests were strongly connected to sports. “He keeps asking, ‘Are you friends with Rohit Sharma? With Virat Kohli? Can you message him and ask for his bat? Do you have Lionel Messi’s contact?’” she said.  Taimur’s recent cricket training therefore appears to reflect the sporting interests Kareena had previously highlighted.
