Dwayne Bravo backs Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in his all-time India-West Indies T20 XI

Dwayne Bravo, the former all-rounder of West Indies and a T20 legend, has shared his ultimate India-West Indies T20 XI, featuring some of the most iconic players in the game. With a stellar T20 career that spanned both international and franchise cricket, Bravo crafted a team filled with proven match-winners, striking a perfect balance of power, experience, and bowling strength. He chose Chris Gayle and Rohit Sharma to open the batting, with Virat Kohli slotted in at No. 3. Gayle, a true T20 batting giant, boasts an impressive tally of 14,562 runs and 22 centuries across 463 matches, making him a no-brainer for the top spot.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli secured their spots thanks to their outstanding T20I records. Rohit has amassed 4,231 runs, while Kohli isn’t far behind with 4,188 runs, placing both among the elite run-scorers in T20I history. The Indian duo wrapped up their T20I careers on a high note, retiring after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, leaving a lasting legacy in the format.

Bravo’s middle order boasts some serious firepower with Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Russell ready to finish strong. Pooran recently hit a milestone, surpassing 10,000 T20 runs and racking up four centuries in the process. Pollard, batting at No. 5, holds the title of the highest run-scorer in T20 history with an impressive 14,589 runs. He’s not just a batsman; he’s also made his mark with the ball, taking 69 wickets in the IPL and over 300 in his T20 career, thanks to his crafty medium pace and clever variations.

Following him at No. 6 is Russell, who brings a whole new level of excitement. He amassed over 2,400 IPL runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders, boasting a strike rate that exceeds 170. On the bowling front, he’s taken more than 100 IPL wickets and over 400 in total across T20 cricket. Together, Pollard and Russell create a dynamic finishing duo while also being dependable bowling options.

At No. 7, MS Dhoni steps in as the wicketkeeper. Bravo has full faith in Dhoni, who is widely regarded as one of the best finishers in T20 cricket. Dhoni has accumulated over 5,200 IPL runs at an average nearing 39, with more than 90 innings not out in the tournament. In his 98 T20I matches, he scored 1,617 runs at an average of 37.60. His leadership credentials are impressive, including winning the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and five IPL titles with the Chennai Super Kings.

The bowling lineup is a blend of variety and precision. Bravo has included himself alongside Sunil Narine, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are entrusted with the new ball and the death overs. Bhuvneshwar has taken over 180 IPL wickets, 90 in 87 T20Is, and holds the record for 10 maiden overs in T20I cricket. Bumrah, known as one of the best in the death overs, has more than 160 IPL wickets, over 80 T20I wickets, and an outstanding economy rate of 6.27 in international T20s. Suresh Raina has been named the team’s Impact Player.
