In IPL 2026, KL Rahul has created yet another feather in his illustrious cap. The Delhi Capitals’ batter scored a composed 56 against the Rajasthan Royals in Delhi and, in the process, became the first player in the history of IPL to hit maximum fifties or more against the same team. KL Rahul has notched up the most scores of fifty-plus runs against Rajasthan Royal in IPL history. Apart from the record, he scored his 50th fifty or better score in the IPL as well. And this knock has paved the way for a five-wicket victory for Delhi Capitals.
KL Rahul’s innings came at a crucial point in time. Delhi Capitals were required to chase 194 against Rajasthan Royals in Arun Jaitley Stadium. He was able to cope with the pressure, rotate the strike and play aggressive cricket on loose balls. KL Rahul scored 105 valuable runs for the first wicket partnership with Abhishek Porel.

Rahul’s fifty was his ninth fifty or above score against Rajasthan Royals in IPL matches. It is also a record as no other batsman has scored 50+ against Rajasthan Royals. He broke the record of de Villiers, who had scored eight fifty-plus runs against Rajasthan Royals in twenty innings. Rahul surpassed him after scoring 95 runs against them in nineteen innings. The current record is: Rahul – 9, de Villiers – 8, followed by Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli at 7 each.
It was also an achievement for Rahul in another aspect. He joined four other players who have registered 50 fifties in their IPL careers. In terms of most fifties in IPL, Kohli tops the charts with seventy-six, followed by David Warner with sixty-six, Shikhar Dhawan with fifty-three, and Rohit Sharma with fifty-one. Rahul has scored fifty in just 149 innings.
Delhi Capitals Beat Rajasthan Royals in Tight Chase
With contributions of 51 from Riyan Parag and 53 from Dhruv Jurel, Rajasthan Royals scored 193 runs for eight wickets. However, young batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi contributed 46 runs before Mitchell Starc turned the tide by picking up three wickets in one over.
However, Delhi Capitals fought back strongly. Abhishek Porel scored 51 runs in just 31 balls, while KL Rahul held his end with 56 runs in 42 balls. Post the dismissal of Rahul, skipper Axar Patel remained unbeaten with 34 runs in 18 balls, whereas Ashutosh Sharma remained unbeaten with 18 runs in just five balls. Thus, Delhi Capitals chased down the target and won the match by five wickets.
