Lando Norris names four most influential people in his F1 career

The route to winning the Formula One World Championship is almost never an individual effort. Every winner has a select group of people around them that influences their decision-making, fuels their ambitions, and keeps them grounded during their most difficult times. In the case of Lando Norris, his selection of the people that have shaped his career is evident after he won the 2025 World Championship with McLaren. He has revealed the names of the four individuals that influenced him the most.

In an interview with McLaren on YouTube, Norris explained it all very clearly and from his personal experience.

“Firstly, it’s my father,” he said, adding that he always thought about early days and support throughout his life. “He helped me fulfill my dream,” he said, adding how he was inspired by other people who were related to Formula 1 and the McLaren team.

Father – The Foundation of the Dream

On top is his dad, the source of everything. Norris did not have to think twice. “Number one is my dad,” he stated. He acknowledged the role his dad played in converting his unexplored interest into opportunities. The love that his dad had for racing was passed on to his sons.

Norris remembered playing Gran Turismo with his dad when he was younger. These childhood experiences were crucial, “That’s where it all really started.”

The impact was never technical; rather, it was emotional and fundamental. There would be no career without it.

Valentino Rossi – The First Racing Hero

Next came an unexpected name from outside Formula 1. Norris pointed to MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi, as he explained, “A guy that I looked up to as a kid.”

Before cars, there were bikes.  The inspiration came early and stayed. It shaped how Norris viewed racing itself – fast, expressive, and personal. Rossi represented flair and excellence.

Norris explained about his fondness for bikes, “I was more into motorbikes when I was younger than I was into four-wheel.”

Zak Brown – The Relentless Leader

Then comes the business force behind McLaren’s rise. Norris described Zak Brown with clear admiration.

Speaking about his next idol, “I don’t think you’ll genuinely ever find someone who works as much as Zak.”

He drew an excellent picture. There is not much time that one can spend with Brown.

Norris added, emphasizing continuous calls and meetings, “You’ll be able to talk to him for about five minutes.” However, it leaves a lasting impression. Apart from the personality aspect, Norris emphasized achievements and determination.

Andrea Stella – The Mind Behind Progress

Finally, Norris named team principal Andrea Stella. Unlike others, this influence is deeply intellectual.

Speaking of her, he said, “You’ve really got to meet Andrea… to understand what he’s capable of doing.”

The strength of Stella is in the aspect of perception. According to Norris, “He is the person that opens your eyes and makes you think about things differently.”

He also established an association between Stella and the recent success of McLaren.

In conclusion, these four individuals represent Norris’s life path from the inspiration of his youth to his success on the track. They all had their respective roles and impacts.
