Former Indian cricketer, Ravi Shastri did not mince words while backing Mohammed Shami for a return to the national side. Shastri made it clear that Shami needs to be part of the team going forward. Stressing on the control Shami shows as well as his seam positioning, he even used the names of legends.

All of a sudden, there has been a lot of discussion about Shami coming back into the team. This has happened after Shami played a match-winning innings in the 2026 IPL season. Shastri is someone who has shown his appreciation of what he has seen from him. Shami is definitely looking like someone who deserves another shot.

Shami let his performance speak for him. Against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the fast bowler had a significant impact with his bowling during the start of the match. He ended up taking two wickets for 9 runs in just 4 overs, with only 2.25 runs conceded per over. Shami’s IPL 2026 Impact

Shami’s training with Bharat Arun has received recognition as well. The player has depended on domestic cricket to get back into the groove following injury. He has followed a systematic process to ensure that he was successful. He emphasized execution, reading of conditions, and mixing up the pace- particularly when facing the Hyderabad batting lineup.

The 35-year-old bowler remains down to earth. He acknowledges that inconsistency is natural in the sport, but he defends himself from the charge. He has delivered excellent results playing against teams like Delhi and Hyderabad. Playing for LSG, he has been consistent with early wickets and controlling the match with the new ball. Most importantly, his experience offers stability next to critical bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, while playing for India.
