Two races remain and that’s it on this year’s F1 calendar. The stakes, cliches be -Van Dammed- are incredibly high. And where it stands at the moment, the fight for the World Drivers’ Championship hangs on the knife’s edge. For the better half of this year, it seemed the 2025 Driver’s title was for Oscar Piastro to lose. And guess what? Now, with just 2 races remaining, it does seem it is Oscar Piastri’s world championship to lose. So what happened? And how did it happen? To many out there, whether or not an expert, it’s all Zak Brown and the ‘very evident’ Papaya bias that’s not helping this mighty fine young Australian. But to a few others, there’s this more experienced driver called Lando Norris, who clearly seems to have picked his game. Let’s take Singapore GP- for an example. It was aced by George Russell. Next up, Max Verstappen bossed the USA Grand Prix, bossing Norris by nearly 8 seconds. But then what did happen in the two races that followed, namely- Mexico and Brazil? Lando beat Leclerc at Mexico City by over 30 seconds, and jus when his critics kept up with incessant trolling, continued his newfound rich vein of form to also take the Interlagos circuit by a storm, beating Antonelli (brilliant P2 for the young Italian) by over 10 seconds. On each of these occasions, Piastri, so massively talented either struggled, or retired or played catch up. Strange are the ways of Formula 1, aren’t they? But then again, just when it seemed that Lando Norris was in it to win it with each of the races thereafter, Max Verstappen showed McLaren the mirror, thumping the rest of the grid in a demonstration of sheer daring to take the glitzy Vegas Grand Prix ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell by over 23 seconds.
So where it stands right now, McLaren are perhaps imploding from within with the fact that Norris strangely trolled by many and not-so-well-liked by countless picking the fight to Max while, on the other hand, the great Dutch driver (not that Sir LH44 fans would agree with the decoration called sir) is vying for a fifth title.
