It’s rather interesting when one of the world’s foremost and brilliant footballers ends up in a place that is anything but a football turf, let alone stadia where two teams are present, if at all they are teams in the first place as yet, that have neither the stats or the rankings comparable to the country of the footballer’s origin.
But then the world has always been an interesting place isn’t it, where Google is considered the world’s safest search engine and where Moon Landings happen much like the belief that we all routinely apply common sense. Anyhow, Portugal’s greatest ever export to the world of Football, Christian’s Ronaldo was recently at the White House amid August company in the month, which Keanu Reeves fans would call “Sweet November”!
An interesting occasion where the big powerful man who shares his first name with a cute Duck, for a change, didn’t behave like a cartoon, neither created menace but rather an occasion that would please Dennis, the Menace’s fans as also those who cowardly were in the know of Kashoggi’s murderer and still kept didn’t resent because, well, “might is right!”
That being told, what was this occasion like and what triumvirate of exciting talents were in each others’ company? For starters, President Donald Trump, if you still hadn’t guessed the author’s random attempt at harmless humour, the great Christiano Ronaldo and, of course, the mighty powerful MBS.
Not to Master of Blockchain or Messiah of BS but the revered (yes, by many and why not) Mohd Bin Salman.
The widely noted and endlessly read Al Jazeera had the following snippets to carry of an event that did most certainly become worldwide news:
“Ronaldo plays for the Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr after signing with them following the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
He spent two decades playing for European clubs and signed a two-year extension in June with Al Nassr. The 40-year-old has indicated he is ready to hang up his boots soon, making Saudi Arabia the last stop in his glittering career.
Over four seasons with Al Nassr, Ronaldo has scored 83 goals with 17 assists in 84 starts.
Since his 2023 signing for the Riyadh-based club – majority owned by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund that the crown prince chairs – Ronaldo has been the face of the Saudi league and has featured in promotional videos for the Saudi Tourism Authority.”
