PM Modi With Women India Team

Venerable Prime Minster of India, Shri Narendra Modi met with the Women’s ODI World Cup champions, team India in an exclusive tete e tete organised in the National Capital post the team’s victory over South Africa recently.

The occasion was, indeed remarkable and special in that for the first time ever since over a five decade period of playing the sport has an Indian women’s team lifted a World Cup trophy.

The meaning and thus, stature of the World Cup win being so high probably down to the number of times India came close to getting a trophy only for them to be denied the win as seen in previous editions of the checkered ICC event.

But this time around, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India side made it count until the very end ensuring that there was no slip off from the checkered tournament held very much in India recently.

On the grandiose winning occasion, PM Modi invited and congratulated members of the victorious women’s team of India and shared some interesting and congratulatory insights with the cricketers whose best days lie ahead; lives that have already inspired countless with this mega World Cup win.

An avid sport lover himself, PM Modi, the most powerful politician in the country turned into a figurehead of passion and simplicity as he sat with the likes of Mandhana, Jemimah, Harmanpreet, among the others to discuss the nuances of this win, what it means for the entire nation and what lies ahead.

PM Modi recalled how cricket, being an emotion, hence more than just any sport in India, led the women’s team to achieve the greatness. Which wasn’t possible without recovering from setbacks that Harman’s fiery ladies did well to counter.

India came up trumps over the likes of Australia, England and S seen at the DY Patil very recently, the Proteas women’s side.

Hope this win can further add to the dynamic of the sport in the country where cricket often just means the men’s national cricket team.
